West Valley City, UT – The Salmon Kings and Grizzlies concluded their three-game set and six-game season series in West Valley City, UT on Saturday night. Julien Ellis got his firs start for the Kings this season while Utah countered with Mike Mole.

Utah hit the scoreboard first. Evan Kotsopoulos was tripped up on a breakaway and awarded a penalty shot. On the penalty shot he slipped a backhander past Ellis for the 1-0 lead. That’s how the first period would end.

The Salmon Kings would draw even as Wes Goldie picked up an Olivier Filion shot that went wide and bounced off end boards and flip it in to the net. The teams would exchange chances, but the goalies would stand tall to keep the game tied at 1-1 after 40 minutes.

The Salmon Kings went on the power play at the 9:34 mark of the third period, and they would take advantage. In almost a carbon copy of his first goal of the night, Goldie collected a Matt Kelly shot that went wide and fired it into the net for the 2-1 lead. Utah would press for the remainder of the third, but Julien Ellis stood tall kicking out all 14 of the Grizzlies’ shots. Salmon Kings 2 Grizzlies 1. Victoria also wins the season series with a record of 4-2-0-0.

Victoria finished 1/4=25.0% on the power play, while Utah finished 0/5=0%.  Final shots were 36-28 for the Salmon Kings.

The Salmon Kings travel to Ontario, California to take on the Reign. It will be the first time these two teams will meet. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. PST on Wednesday, December 3rd.
