Victoria, BC – The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team along with The Bottle Depot and Victoria Minor Hockey has raised and donated $5,527.25 to Jack and his family.

Jack is a 5-year-old member of a minor hockey team in the Greater Victoria area who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia.

With the help of The Bottle Depot and their 5-tone freightliner truck, fans were able to raise $1,866.25 through a bottle drive held on March 21st when the Salmon Kings faced the Idaho Steelheads at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre. In addition D’arcy Hipwell, owner of the Bottle Depot matched that amount making the total monies raised for that evening $3,772.50.

The Salmon Kings showed their support in conjunction with Victoria Minor Hockey, by raising $1,754.75 through an authentic game worn jersey raffle. The featured autographed jerseys were worn during the 2007-08 season by forward Wes Goldie and goaltender Julien Ellis. The winners of the jersey raffle were Laurie Gowans who took home Wes Goldie’s jersey and Kate Hart who won the Julien Ellis jersey.

All proceeds will be placed in a trust fund to help aid Jack’s parents with travel costs between Victoria and the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.

The Salmon Kings continue their second round match up with the Alaska Aces tonight at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre at 7:05 p.m.  Tickets are available at the Select Your Ticket Box Office at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, by calling 250-220-7777 or visiting www.selectyourtickets.com.
